Bob Tyrell

Bob Tyrell is a famous tattoo artist, and he lives and works in Michigan. He was born in 1962. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, and he was on the shows, London Ink and L.A. Ink, and he was best known for tattooing the back of Kid Rock. He was a jury member for the Chaudesaigues Award, and award that recognizes the artwork and career of other tattoo artists. He was also a member of the World Wide Tattoo Conference in 2012.

On his website, he says that he had a wonderful artist for a father, and he grew up wanting to be an artist, because that example inspired him. He started playing guitar in his early teens, and he gave up art all the way to pursue a career in music. This is common for some tattoo artists to do, like Yoji Harada, and there seems to be a connection between musical talent and artistic talent. He’d wanted to get a tattoo for years, but he didn’t get his first tattoo for several years, until he was almost 30. Once he got his first tattoo, he was sucked in, and he got his sleeves and a full piece across his back in a few short years. A lot of prominent tattoo artists describe it as getting hooked or getting sucked in once you get your first tattoo. He also did some art classes and drawing during that time. He took his initial drawings to Eternal Tattoos, where he was based in Detroit, and he was given an apprenticeship, and he was tattooing full-time within three years. He was even able to quit his day job. Now that he’s become one of the most prominent tattoo artists in history, it just goes to show you that anyone can do it, no matter how late they start, where they live, or their past pursuits beforehand. It’s not something that requires a lot of training or schooling. It just requires talent. It also requires commitment and dedication too.

He was pretty old, the age of 34, when he finally started full-time in tattooing, and he said that it was better late than never. That’s the positive attitude you have to have if you want to become one of the world’s most prominent tattoo artists. He credits Tom Renshaw with helping him a lot while he was there, and he says that that guy really helped him out a lot in the first couple years. He was at Eternal Tattoos for a six-year period. He currently travels on the road, and he does work at conventions for tattoos and guest spots at tattoo shops.

Bob Tyrell had an interesting life story, and a pursuit as a tattoo artist that was unusual compared to most. That didn’t stop him, however, from becoming one of the world’s most famous tattoo artists, and he’s etched his name into tattoo art history from here on out, pun intended.

There is also a way to buy merchandise on the site, and you can purchase t-shirts and such on the site. There are also art prints. The prices are reasonable at around $20 per shirt and $50 per art print. It’s a small price to pay for the level of artistry you get in the work.

Bob Tyrell started out tattooing in an unlikely spot, in Detroit, Michigan, and you would expect it to be harder, but he did just fine. He didn’t start a tattoo studio in Los Angeles, Chicago, or New York. He made his own way in life, and he kept at it. That was his success secret.
