He started out as an entrepreneur when he was quite young. He started his own sign-making shop when he was fifteen, and he then learned about Repo work and airbrushing. When he received his first tattoo, which was the name of his daughter, he wanted to learn more about the medium and explore it, because his interest was piqued. Booth has been tattooing solid for over two decades, and he’s worked with multiple rock bands and celebrities in that time, like Adrenaline Crew, Lamb of God, Superjoint Ritual, The Undertake (famous WWE star), Pantera, Mudvayne, Slipknot, Slayer, and Fred Durst. Around the globe, he’s considered to be an expert.

When a visitor goes into his tattoo studio, they find a dungeon-like room, that’s lit only with a few fluorescent lamps. There is heavy metal music playing in the room sometimes, and there are red candles which line the walls, along with prints of creepy stuff. Paul Booth is definitely one-of-a-kind, a true representative of the kind of tattoos he makes.

His $400 an hour rate, and waiting list that runs 3,500 clients long, makes him look at the recession a little differently than most people. He even turns away clients who want simpler things like unicorns and things like that.

Paul Booth does a lot of doctors, lawyers, teachers, and financial advisers too. He doesn’t just do ink-saturated celebrities and rock stars. A lot of customers spend a whole day at Last Rites. Some even stay for several sittings. It takes a lot to get the tattoo perfect, and make it into an artistic masterpiece, which is what just about every tattoo he does is. If you’re interested in getting a tattoo from him, expect to wait a year or two. It’s worth it, though. Even though the waiting list is a long time, and it’s expensive, it’s definitely worth it.
